Speech Karaoke

Trailer for the Speech Karaoke club

Speech Karaoke – as the name suggests – works in a similar way as a traditional karaoke, but it allows people to re-interpret known and unknown speeches in their own way. Instead of choosing between songs from a booklet, the user chooses between speeches. Within a relaxed atmosphere one can listen to speeches delivered by other karaoke bar guests – or try out how it feels to interpret someone´s speech.

The speeches range from personal every-day-life speeches to important historical speeches from different cultures and in different languages. At the moment the Karaoke system contains over 300 speeches in 13 different languages. Each speech has an individual karaoke video.

Speech Karaoke is a project by The Speech Karaoke Action Group, a group of artists working collectively. The project started in 2010 and new speeches are constantly added. For more info see www.speechkaraoke.org

Speech Karaoke events have been held in Finland, Estonia, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, Thailand, United Kingdom and Croatia. Venues include Kiasma (Helsinki), Vooruit (Ghent) and Rotterdam International Film Festival.
